Each year, Ovation Jewish Home welcomes a Healthcare Administration Student from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he/she will serve as an Administrator in Training (AIT) during a 50-week practicum. This position involves learning the ins and outs of management in long-term care through hands on work. This partnership benefits the Ovation Jewish Home by giving a new perspective from the student, and the students learn and grow in the business. This year’s student is Ali Lovek.
Ali grew up in Pewaukee and is quickly learning the ins and outs of Ovation Jewish Home. Recently, Ali spent a day as a resident, where she learned what the facility was like from their perspective. Ali will be rotating and spending time in every department, where she will learn how everything works and how it all comes together. She believes that this experience will help provide the framework for her career.
Ali began her college career pursuing a degree in business. However, her college adviser pointed out that she was taking several courses in the healthcare field. This inspired her to pursue a career as a Healthcare Administrator. In addition to completing this practicum, Ali intends to get licensed through the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). After this position, Ali hopes to continue to work in long-term care. Prior to this position, she worked as a caregiver in Waukesha and at a nursing home in Eau Claire. In her free time, Ali enjoys fishing, hiking, and going to the gym.
