As the High Holy Days draw near, the Jewish Home & Care Center Foundation invites residents, families, and friends to participate in the 5787 (2026–2027) Sefer Yizkor Memorial Book, a cherished tradition that honors the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away.
Distributed throughout Ovation Communities before Yom Kippur and used during Yizkor services in the Kohl Family Synagogue, the Sefer Yizkor serves as a lasting tribute to those who continue to live on in our hearts and memories. This year, names included in the Sefer Yizkor will also be read aloud during the Yizkor Service as Kaddish is recited, adding another meaningful moment of remembrance.
In Jewish tradition, acts of tzedakah are believed to elevate the souls of the departed. By including the names of loved ones in the Sefer Yizkor and making a memorial donation, you not only honor their memory but also help support the Foundation’s Hyman Kastrul Synagogue Fund, which sustains the spiritual life, worship, and traditions that are so meaningful to our residents and community.
A suggested minimum donation is $18 for one memorial listing and $54 for multiple listings. Tribute page dedications are also available for those wishing to create a more personalized memorial:
- Full page: $500
- Half page: $360
- Quarter page: $250
The deadline to submit names and memorial gifts for inclusion in this year’s Sefer Yizkor is Friday, August 21, 2026.
